Shopify already shares product data with several AI shopping channels. What those channels can say about a product still depends on the information in your store. This guide separates what Shopify handles, what to check, and what needs a person.

structured_data filter outputs schema.org Product or ProductGroup markup with name, description, brand, category, images, URL and offers. Whether your theme uses it depends on the theme. Shopify developer docs/agents.md and /llms.txt by default, and these can be customized with theme templates. In other words, Shopify moves your product data to AI channels. It does not decide whether that data is complete, specific or backed by evidence.

Before: Title "Ultimate Bottle". Description: "Keeps drinks cold all day. Premium quality."
After: Title "Example Bottle — 750 ml insulated stainless steel". Description: "Double-wall vacuum-insulated stainless steel, 750 ml. Keeps water cold for up to [N] hours at [room temperature] in our [test description] (test notes linked). Lid is dishwasher-safe; bottle is hand-wash only. Not for carbonated drinks." Category metafields: capacity noted in the description, material set to stainless steel.
The change adds the facts a shopper compares, the condition behind the performance claim, and a clear limit.

OpenAI says product data from Shopify merchants is already integrated into ChatGPT through Shopify Catalog. Your products still need to be Catalog-eligible, and the ChatGPT channel requires selling to US customers. Check the Agentic Storefronts section of your Shopify admin.
